If I wanted to pull all sales activities on a certain I.D. in Siebel for a certain month, how would I do that? 

Depends on what you have (Oracle/Siebel BI with a DWH, Siebel with Actuate Reports, Siebel with Charts Server) and how you want to show it/put it into graphs.
With "a certail I.D." i recon you mean an Account.
Please tell us a bit more what you want and what you have.
(Siebel version?, what modules?, Oracle/Siebel BI?, Actuate?, chart server?, ...)

Well I am using Siebel Communications 7.7 and I need to pull all activity on a Siebel I.D. or a commission report rather. This is a sales issue. How would run a report on a Siebel I.D. I don't mind how the information is displayed just as long as the numbers are shown.


Why choosing Oracle BAM

We are assessing several products to answer our needs: create a Business Activity dashboard.
Basically, we a have a DB that tracks orders and their statuses. We want to create a graphic dashboards to display numbers of orders (grouped by status, region, market, service type, ...), KPI and measure the performance (by storing the results and comparing them)
I'm sure Oracle BAM can answer the requirement. However, is it the best tool to fit our requirements? We found other tool that are too much 'alarm oriented'. When buying a product, we want to minimize at the maximum the customization (vs. configuration).
Hello Stef - It looks like Oracle BAM could be the right tool for your needs. However it is always better to contact your local Oracle representative. You are welcome to see all the product information on the Oracle public website and also if needed - download and try some samples.

CRM Siebel On Demand - Audit Trail

Hi all the experts out there,
I have requirement from business to track the usage of the CRM On Demand system such as:
- Number of user we have so far in the system
- User Login information for example how many time one particular user login to the system in 1 week
- List of Analytics report viewed by user
Is that possible to get the report out based on the criterias mentioned above using Analytics report?
I read somewhere that Siebel On demand don't have reporting capability on Audit Trails. please advice
Any inputs or advises would be appriciated

In Analytic's you can easily create a report to display the number of current users as well as the last time each of these logged into the system but you cannot do this as one report and keep a historic figure on a per week basis as this field is updated with new values each week so you would have to download the report each week and keep a separate record of this information.
With regards to Audit report people have exacted this information using web service but this is currently the only option.
Also you are not able to track how many users have viewed the report or downloaded a report.

Guys need ur help- SOA

Hi Guys
I am a frehser and have just started my career in the field of Data Warehousing. I was recently assigned with a activity where i was suppose to develope a complex report on OBIEE. After reading blogs and articles i could work on OBIEE and developed that report. Now I am loaded with another assignment- THE SOA TRACK,I have no clue how to do it or from where to start, So i am seeking your help. I have created a sales report that provides the details of the sales from various department on the monthly bases at various locations. Now the requirement is that- for any region, if the sales measure goes below 500$ (let us assume) then a mail will be send to the sales manager of that region reporting about low sales. I am suppose to create a web service for which My report will act as a source and data from the report will be analysed using the web service and then the if the requirement matches a mail will be send, I need to use things called SOA/JDeveloper/BPEL for the assignment, I have never worked on Jdeveloper and have no knowledge about the JAVA. I need your guidence regarding how can i do it.

adding real intelligence to BI reports

Dear Experts
I have a question regarding forecasting. Please look at the below simple scenario
- I have a factory
- factory has 100 dealers for selling its products
- I have detailed sales data of all dealers in my data warehouse and BI Answers reports from it
If I increase the dealer counts to 150 or reduce the counts to 50 how will it affect the sales?
I am looking for ways to implement this. Does anyone has any leads ?

In My opinion,
For this type of forecasting OBIEE is not well acclaimed. The only way it can be done is by discovering the trend and come up with a ratio, for ex:sales to no.of dealers or profit to no. of items sold.... etc....
after arriving at this ratio, we can have a table built with the various values and can query it for the different results.
I usually do this type of forecasting with other simple softwares and embed the forecasting page in the obiee dashboard, but mind that u r company has to have licence to use the other software too.

I have seen in many places of the BI documentation claiming a combination of OLAP and Oracle BI helps predict the future scenarios too. My data warehouse uses Oracle OLAP and I have reports in BI answers. It shows the past trends well, but I am yet to figure out how to add variability to predict the future scenarios.
For example : if sales changes by X percentage, what will be the profit one year from now.

BI and EBS

We're new to Oracle BI and our only datasource is our R12 Oracle EBS system.
We're trying to develop some key dashboard and we're struggling with them
We want to start out with a dashboard that should invoice dollar value and give us the ability to drill down by month, week, date, etc and see the order details.
Easy enough - we start with the order info and grab the invoiced amount and the report looks good. Except that some of our invoiced amounts have revenue recognition rules in EBS and we end up counting the $$ all at once in BI, rather than a portion of the total invoice amount over time like in EBS. So, we end up with reports in BI not reporting the same figures.
Anyone offer any input or guidance? 
This sounds like a pure data modeling issue which is very difficult to help resolve over forums.
Since your team is new to Oracle BI I would suggest that your team is formally trained on the metadata modeling of Oracle BI.

In addition since you are using EBS as a data source, have you looked at the Oracle BI Apps yet. I am not sure what area you areas of your company you are building the model and reports for but assessing the pre-built solutions is also an avenue to walk down.

I read the descriptions and I'm having trouble really telling if those give us the right toolset. We implemented BI Apps with connection from EBS using an Oracle partner and were told that would give us the basics and that a number of companies successfully use the product without significant effort from there.
We're finding that's not true because everything seems to have exceptions in order to be accurate.
The example I gave was one we're trying to simply report revenue by day and drill to customer/product detail. It works for anything in EBS that follows the basic build/ship/invoice pattern but not for items outside of that pattern like items that invoice upfront but have revenue recognition over a period of time. We're told that BI doesn't handle anything like that and its a major customization effort, yet its a common setup in EBS. Alternately, we can simply show the value from the revenue account which is accurate but doesn't let us drill down to the customer/product detail - it drills down to the gl batch and batch descriptions.
Does that make any more sense? Would you still think those courses are the right fit? 
Steve, to make the customization to the "out of the box" content from BIApps you will in general need to change one or two or all of ; 1. the mappings in Informatica, then the model in the RPD, then the anysis/dashboard in the catalog. In this case it may be possible to simply edit the dashboard in question to change the drill path. This assumes that the data you want to drill to is already loaded into the data warehouse by the mappings then modelled in the RPD so that you can use it in the presentation layer.
