Report script question : Tabs in headers - Query & Analysis(Archived)

I'm trying to write a report script in such a way that I can generate a tab-delimited file and have the end user import it directly into Excel just the way they want. The problem is I need a custom header. Using the {TABDELIMIT} option only tab delimits the data rows and not the headers. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to use a Tab character in a custom header?I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thanks for your time.Jeff BaumertSr. Programmer AnalystFrontier585-777-7344

Hi,
I know that you may like it, but an easy solution is that open that Excel File and press Ctrl+F type the Header in the dialoge box and search and replace that header from the file.
Thanks.

If you want to use Reports maybe you can use a temporary table or use a Ref cursor to pass data to Reports. I don'tk know if there exists another way to send data dinamicaly to Reports.
Why don´t you try using other way tah using Oracle Reports, I don´t know very much about Html programing but I guess there are other way to generate a report from Html.

Create a button to generate a CSV report

Hello,
I have an application which contains a report, In order to produce this in a CSV format, I need to use the download option or copy and paste the data. Once this occurs, formatting needs to be done and the columns need to be rearranged.
I am wondering, if there might be a way to create a button manually, which once pressed the data in the report can be exported to a CSV, and also the data will be word wrapped.
Any help would be great.
Take a look at this blog post: http://spendolini.blogspot.com/2006/04/custom-export-to-csv.html
I'm currently doing this and have a small issue. If I look at teh CSV file in notepad it has non-printable characters at the end.
Is there any way to get rid of these?

How to add custom report in OTM

Hello, There is a requirement to add a custom report in OTM. Do you have an idea how to do it? Thank you in advance.
You can use   utilities.getFileService().writeStringToFile(file, contents);to write your contents to a csv while execution. You can use following code to append your contents to a csv  utilities.getFileService().appendStringToFile(file, contents); Using these, after script playback a csv can be created with your comments for each validation  Cheers,Deepu M
Hello Deepu, My question is more to add custom reports in OTM. Business users are asking for more felxible reports. Thank you anyway.

Help with Exporting to XML

Version: 4.2.5.00.08 Hello, A coworker came to me because he has a Classic Report that is displaying the data as XML created by a Piped function. He needs to download the data as XML to be used in another application. The Download link in the Report Attributes is set to YES and when the report is downloaded the XML tags are removed. I know that the Report Template in the Layout and Pagination under the Report Attributes can be set to "export:xml", but that removes the XML tags that he has on the data and replaces it with APEX's XML tags.I've tried to change the Display As attributes, but the XML tags are still removed when downloaded. So, can someone help with how to get the report to download keeping the XML tags? What information can I provide? Thanks,Joe

The problem there could be that the Strip HTML property is set for the report...

If it's not something trivial like having Strip HTML enabled then we'd probably need everything: report source, all region and report settings, pipelined function source, DDL for dependent objects, sample output etc. Is a report displaying raw XML on screen actually of any real use? Another option would be to drop the report completely and expose the pipelined function output as a download via an On Demand Process.
Paul, That was the problem! Thank you again!! To answer your question, because I asked the same thing, he is not intending the page to be seen by users rather using APEX as mechanism to populate data into another application that doesn't allow web services. Apparently, this other application is non-Oracle and only allows imports of XML files so he's using APEX to create the XML file, downloading it, and using it to import into this other application. Thanks,Joe
