$AD_TOP/sql/ADXGNPIN.sql

hello all
can any provide me the script for the $AD_TOP/sql/ADXGNPIN.sql since we have to pin the cache which is causing the skip of auto numbering in random
thanks
Praneeth
Set the sequence to nocache to avoid gaps in the numbering.
Set the sequence to nocache to avoid gaps in the numbering.Other option is, modifying the script $AD_TOP/sql/ADXGNPIN.sql to include the sequence
Hi guru,
Do we need to bounce the server after the change?, We bounce the server every night so do we need to ren the script after bouncing the server?
Hi Taylor,
Do we need to bounce the server after the change?, We bounce the server every night so do we need to ren the script after bouncing the server?
Modifying the script $AD_TOP/sql/ADXGNPIN.sql to include the sequence will automate the pinning of the sequence. The dbms_shared_pool.keep() will not need to be run every time the database is restarted if called from the script $AD_TOP/sql/ADXGNPIN.sql
Hi guru,
thanks for your guidance, whats the case if its not called from the $AD_TOP/sql/ADXGNPIN.sql and just change the cache to 0?
thanks
Praneeth

Even if you pin sequences via $AD_TOP/sql/ADXGNPIN.sql, there will be gaps in the numbering after a database bounce. Pinning the sequence will just make .NEXTVAL or .CURRVAL operations faster. I still advise setting the cache to 0 as you mentioned.
Hi Taylor,
thakyou verymuch for the guidance, yes I came to know that after every bounce we had a sip in numbering.
thanks
Praneeth
Hi Taylor,
do we have effects on any side if we make cache to 0
thanks
Praneeth
Hi Praneeth,
I have just done ALTER SEQUENCE sequence_name NOCACHE; and have not observed any negative side effects.
Service Requests and Invoices are some of the common sequences that have this issue.

-Michael
Hi Micheal,
sorry that I was addressing you as taylor.
so as example my script should be as
"alter sequence FA.FA_ADDITIONS_S NOCACHE".please correct meif it is wrong. And is it enough doing once for all the time?
Regards
Praneeth.

Hi Praneeth,
No problem. Just add a semicolon and you are good to go. You only have to do this once, unless you drop and recreate the sequence with the default cache size (20).

allocating shared memory in brekely DB(Its urgent)

Hi All,
how can i allocate shared memory in berkely db xml.
wheather we can do this by enabling DB_INIT_MPOOL flag.(env flag in bdb xml)
Please reply me at the earliest ,
Its very urgent and critical too .
Thanks,
Madhu
Hi Madhu,
Please don't cross post the same question in different forums. If your question is urgent and critical, you need to take the time to explain your problem well - otherwise you'll waste time while people like me ask you to clarify what you are asking.
John
Hi
i dont want to reply the same question or i dont want to waste ur valuable time and of mine also.
i am nor clear abt my requirement so i asked u for the suggestion .
anyway my requirement was Berkely DB shuold use no more than 32 MB of shared memory.what does this line means ..............
if u can suggest me anything ...then its fine ........otherwise THANKS A lot(for givin ur quality time)
Using DbEnv::set_cachesize() is the best (and about only) way to limit memory usage in Berkeley DB. However you can still create large databases which will simply run slowly and spill over onto disk.

Hi 804719,
Please let me know if this lock is harmful and what actions should be done to resolve thisWell it should be harmful and you should be able to use the database with normal application activity.
What query did you use to find this lock?

Tycho
The below link deals with MR logs, please take a look...

Log sync waits

Hi,
I have one node with 2 oracle databases, Primary and standby (use for reports) version 11.2 but now I have waits in the log sync.
what do you suggest me that might help lower the log sync waits?
Thanks and regards!!
I have no simple fix but I might consider setting:
ALTER SYSTEM SET LOG_ARCHIVE_TRACE=8192;
To trace redo transport progress.
Best Regards

Hi,
I have a piece of string. How long is it?
We need a lot more information to answer something like this.
Larry
What type of information do you need?
Please tell me.
Thanks for your help.
Regards!!
Can you show me, an output? because My DB's are production, and my manager don't like the idea, but if I show him an output, may accept.
Thanks for your help.
Regards!!
If you want help you have to at least provide some basic information like Network parameters (RTT and Bandwidth), Redo generation per second, Data Guard configuration parameters, network tuning you have done, etc.

Thnx for reply
No it's not an ora error , it is just an information , just wanted to know more abt it
Hi -
Generally this sort of error comes if there is duplicate rows in some of tables in primary database
Hello;
Its a Memory Consumption thing. Not a problem.
For additional information see :
