anybody can help me ?

In version 2x
You can type
to see all the urls in the cache.
If you just want to see the top 100 URLs, then type
This information is noted in the README.HTML

Note that this feature is being enhanced a bit in the upcoming release to include information on object size and what
cacheability rule it matched.

Web documentation differs from downloaded version...

Where can I get the exact same documentation set as it available on web?
I downloaded the latest documentation (10.2) from OTN but following tabs are missing from the same.
Enterprise Manager
Secure Backup
Enterprise Search
Database vault
Also, the detailed "Upgrade information" table, "installation guide" table are also very short in the downloaded version.
I'm just downloading few minutes ago from here, and if the boxes position are a little bit different, I found all the same as from the site for which you give the link (including EM, Secure Backup, Entreprise search and Database vault tabs links).
Well, now I think I understand from where comes your doubts.
If I open index.htm from the downloaded docs with Firefox, the new tabs are here as well, under (started with "Information Integration", that can depend of the screen definition) the others old tabs. If I open the same index.htm file with IE, the same tabs are to the right of the others tabs and not under. We have to use the horizontal bar to see them.
I have to say that with the docs from the docs website, this problem doesn't occur, and under IE or Firefox, we see the tabs as well under the others old tabs.
Yes Nicolas. I am using IE to view the downloaded pages. It shows the tabs on the right hand side.
I wonder why web documentation does no suffer with this problem.
Hello Nicolas and Satish. I will pass this information along to the Documentation Release group and let you know if this is expected behavior.
Thanks Diana. Awaiting your feedback.
Hello again.
The root of the problem was an outdated CSS file. This has been modified so that now the tabs look and wrap the same way in both browsers. However, it may be some time before the downloadable library is refreshed to pick up this change. The libraries are refreshed when substantive changes are made to the content, and there is no way to predict when this will next occur.
Thanks for letting us know about this!
Thanks for the detailed findings Diana. Is there any way we can come to know that the downloadable documentation set has been modified? There is no fingerprint available on the web pages related to documentation.
Currently there is no way to know when the downloadable doc set has been updated. Even if there were a way, you would not necessarily know which books had been updated. The doc release managers are looking into a way to provide this information.
In the meantime, if you keep track of the part number revision of the book(s) you're using, you can tell if they've been updated. The last two digits of the part number change whenever a book is re-released. For example, the SQL Reference for 10.2 is B14200-02, which means it was updated once after its initial upload.
Hope this helps,
Thanks for the update Diana. I will try and keep track of the updates.

Configuring Oracle Content Database 10.2 in SES 10.1.8

Hi Everyone,
I am trying to setup Content Database as one of the data sources in SES 10.1.8.
I have followed the Administration Guide and performed the following steps
1) Activate the Identity Management Plug-in
2) Created an application entity for the plug-in.
3) Followed the KNown issues in the Guide.
But after i create the source, in the "Authorization Tab"->"Security Attributes section" I dont see the
GetContent and GetMetadata Attributes, instead i see an attribute called "ALLOWEDENTITY"
The Crawler failed with following error message:
EQG-30220: Error initializing crawler plug-in:
EQG-30236: Crawler plug-in fatal error: null
Any solutions on what i am missing in terms of configuration or something.
Thanks in advance
Are you sure you selected the correct authorization plugin? Also, did you check the Content DB logs?
I configured this and had no problem doing so.
Thanks Nick for your response,
I have selected the correct authorization plugin. This is what i selected
I created the Application entity also. I checked the log and this is the error it displays
16:03:45:409 ERROR     filter_0          EQP-80106: S2S authentication failed with error message: null
16:03:45:409 ERROR     filter_0     null oracle.ifs.fdk.FdkException
16:03:45:429 ERROR     filter_0          oracle.ifs.fdk.FdkException: ErrorCode = ORACLE.FDK.InvalidCredentials;
So any idea on how i can go about solving this problem
Thanks & Regards,
The error message seems pretty clear. The only thing I would suggest is to make sure the application entity password is correct. Also, when specifying the application entity, make sure you use all lowercase with no spaces.
Hi Nick,
Given your comments on this thread, would you mind giving me a quick summary of what you have achieved so far with SES and the content database plug-in?
Have you successfully indexed and searched large amounts of content database data?
Did you discover any limitations on the crawler with content database? (I heard an unvalidated rumour that it has to crawl all docs each time, but the docs seem to imply otherwise)?
Any feedback you can give me on what you have successfully achieved would be useful. I'm trying to determine if SES + content database would be a good platform for a proposal and Q&A archive and search system.
Many thanks
I'm not sure how much I can add, but here goes. We're using
The search integration does work so that's obviously the first step. The search results are as accurate as you would expect Oracle Text to be, which is very good.
Were crawling a 100k+ files, which takes ~3 hours to index just the default file types(MS office, pdf, etc).
It does appear to crawl each document each time the crawler is launched, but I believe this is because it is examining the files for changes. It will not re-index files that have not changed, so the re-crawl of content DB is quicker.
The crawler can also be tuned for extra crawling threads. We're just using the default of 5, but assuming you had the system to support it, you could increase the number.
Great, its useful to know that you've got that far successfully, and means its an option that is worth considering for us. Many thanks.

how to monitor page hit rates?

I see a lot of references in docs and white papers to cache hit rates for the Parallel Page Engine, but I've not found any documentation on how to monitor this system-wide (only how to turn on portlet statistics and get a manual page-by-page look at cache success/failure).
Is there any way to determine the cache hit rate for the PPE?
With the 30983 patch (due out today) you will be able to do exactly that.
For a precursor please read this..
We will be releasing a detailed explanation of how to obtain and read the stats in a separate document to be published in the next 10-14 days.
Jason Pepper
Thanks for the reply, but what I'm looking for is a way to monitor these system-wide, not just while debugging individual pages.
Are PPE cache statistics for the entire cache accumulated anywhere, and are they available via an API, log file, or any method other than hand-copying off individual pages?
The statistics produced by the 30983 patch will be logged to file for all requests to the PPE, including all requests made by the PPE (e.g. portlets, metadata). This logging will be controlled by a PPE initialisation parameter.
As Jason says details of how to obtain and understand the statistics will be published shortly.
The know you need to do this has been published in the 30983 patch which was released on Friday 26th.
You can read the documentation for the performance monitoring components of modPLSQL at the following URL
Excellent Advice.
Not only is the posted link not accessible, but even if you manage to find the document, it will not work. Setting up web cache with the parameters stated will mean that it is impossible to restart webcache.
I wonder how much effort goes into the creation of a product such as Portal, only for it to be let down so often by the appalling support and documentation that goes with it.
If something doesn't work, then it's probably best not to post it on the www.
I'm sorry you seem to be experiencing some problems with the support and documentation of the portal software.
The link above was posted on May 1st 2002, and was posted as an absolute link rather than a dynamic product link. As the document name is revved the link will change, hence why an old link from the forums will no longer work.
The document you seek is here. I assume that by referring to webcache you mean that when you add the XLF logging format options webcache complains about x-ecid (for example). This indicates that you have not applied the core iAS patchset which is required to allow webcache to understand these extended log parameters. I believe that the document refers to this as a requirement to get 'full functionality' - perhaps that is a little esoteric, I'll change it in the next rev.
If you continue to be unsuccessful in deploying this note please let me know what errors you're seeing and I'll see what I can do. I'm working on an end-to-end performance kit at the moment that will supercede this document so I'll take your comments on board when revving this area.

Oracle9iAS Portal
Hi Jason,
Thanks for your reply. I read the document and then searched Metalink (Not very functional) for all the 9iAS Core patches and the portal patches. I found and applied Patchset for 9iAS CORE(2703110), and PORTAL PATCH RELEASE -
Both of these patchsets were applied before I made any attempt to implement monitoring.
Are you saying that there is another Patch that I need to apply??
I am in the process of documenting exactly the process needed to run the performance scripts, as things have changed slightly, to avoid getting the issue with the x-ecid addition in the Webcache step, make sure you have applied the following patches.
OID 9022 Patch 2559205
9022 Core Patch 27403110
9023 Patch 2744619
Web Cache Patch 2885472
I'll post the updated document in the performance folder soon.
i am using oracle 10g do i need to patch alo in order to get those data?
Nope, no patches needed.

Cannot view HTLM or Dowload PDF?

I can navigate to the Oracle9i Application Server Online Documentation Library Release 2 (9.0.2) successfully. However, when I attempt to either view the library or dowload the file all I get is a blank browser window. I checked several other documents/links and got the same result, so the problem does not seem to be the specific file that I am after. I am using ie 6.0, JAVA script enabled. What else do I need to get to the documentation?
Hi Ken,
This posting was brought to my attention as it appears to relate to the OTN documentation pages
Internal Oracle employees cannot view the documentation if they have variations of "" in their browser's proxy settings, and need to use the corporate automatic proxy setting wpad instead.
Perhaps your proxy settings require amendment?

Webcache can't show specific (random) images

My Webcache (with application server 9iR2) can't show some images (mostly .jpg files).
When I try I have this problem.
When I try, bypassing the webcache, I don't have the problem, which tells me that something is wrong with the cache.
When I try, without www, which is an alias for site, I don't have the problem.
What could be wrong? I have tried everything, with or without cacheability rules.
Any ideas?
Thanx in advance
you are hitting a known bug...please upgrade Web Cache to the latest patch available on Metalink (currently and see if this solves your problem
